Cheboygan County, Michigan
Cheboygan County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. The name of the county shares the same origin as that of the Cheboygan River, although the precise meaning is no longer known. It may have come from an Ojibwe word ''zhaabonigan'' meaning "sewing needle". Alternatively, the origin may have been "Chabwegan," meaning "a place of ore".〔(Michigan County names per the Michigan government. )〕 It has also been described as "a Native American word first applied to the river.〔 ''See'' List of Michigan county name etymologies.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (19%) is water. The county is considered to be part of Northern Michigan.
